Metals represent a large group of micronutrients, most of which are essential for the body. They are divided into macrometals and micrometals (trace elements). Minerals such as calcium and phosphorus are needed in amounts of 100mg per day or more, while trace elements such as iron and selenium are needed in smaller amounts of less than 15mg per day.
